Brunswick First Nations Healing House

GRIMSBY, ONTARIO

The Brunswick House First Nation Healing House Project is a modular, prefabricated, 6,000 sq ft, one-storey plus clerestory facility located at 115 South Service Road in Grimsby, Ontario. Quasar Consulting Group delivered full Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Services, creating a flexible, accessible, and culturally respectful environment to support traditional and modern healing practices.

Our team engineered a central, round ceremony and gathering space complete with dedicated HVAC ventilation for indoor medicine use and smudging, and a custom exhaust system for the central fireplace. Core program areas include a fully equipped kitchen, an elder’s space, meeting rooms, administrative offices, and spaces for addiction and mental health programming. Temporary family sleeping accommodations and two universal washrooms ensure comfort and inclusivity.

Accessibility and privacy were prioritized through barrier-free design, elevated clerestory windows for natural light without direct sightlines, and universal washrooms. We specified LED lighting layouts to optimize energy efficiency, coordinated a comprehensive security system with camera coverage, and designed electrical distribution for both ceremonial ambience and operational needs. The modular approach accelerates construction and allows for future adaptability in programming and site expansion.
