Quasar provided electrical and ICAT engineering services for a 20,000 sq. ft. fit-out of a new private surgical facility (Facility Type A) located on the fifth floor of a new building in the City of Surrey. Classified as a Class C-1 Health Care Facility, the clinic includes five operating rooms, 12 PACU bays with dedicated nurse stations, a Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) room, and a full range of supporting clinical and staff spaces.
Our approach focused on delivering a coordinated, resilient, and code-compliant design aligned with the stringent requirements of surgical environments. New electrical systems included dedicated normal power feed from the main building switchboard, dedicated CSA 282/CSA Z32 compliant life-safety generator and associated vital and delayed vital transfer switches and branch distribution for emergency power, and 20kW clinical UPS system to protect the most critical loads.
Supporting systems included a fully integrated new Logistical Solutions Nurse Call System designed in coordination with the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons was installed for the space and included nurse call, code blue, dome light and both visual and audible alert devices for staff. New fire alarm devices, access control, and CCTV were expanded from the main building system but operated as standalone to ensure space was secured and structure cabling for voice, data and wireless systems.
