New South Edmonton Hospital Planning, Design and Compliance (PDC)

EDMONTOn, ALBERTA

The Project consists of a New Community Hospital and Health Campus on a 320-acre Site, formerly the Ellerslie Research Station at 127 Street NW in Edmonton, Alberta. The New Hospital will provide between 350 to 500 Inpatient Beds and a comprehensive mix of Healthcare Services, integrating Acute Care and Emergency Services with community-based care, all with a patient-centered approach.

Conveying the information in word or narrative format for complex Rooms in Acute Care Hospitals has traditionally led to a process based upon Room-Data-Sheets. Colliers, Quasar, and Kirsten Reite Architecture (KRA) felt there was an opportunity to provide a deliverable which was easier and clearer for User Groups to understand the layout and criteria for Rooms which repeat throughout the Hospital. Thus, the “Recurring Room” Drawing was created to allow both Designers and Users to see the Rooms in a visual form context, with all Mechanical and Electrical Systems and devices shown. The result is a series of deliverables that User Groups can easily comprehend and thus provide meaningful feedback and input.
