GO Transit East Harbour Transit Hub
Scope
Mechanical consulting engineering services for the new East Harbour GO Transit Station on the Lakeshore East Line as well as requisite associated site and track work. The new station will have three (3) platforms, 2,300 sq. m of retail space, an over 10,000 sq. m concourse area, over 6,000 sq. m public space, and a bike storage area. The project is being delivered in a Construction Management project delivery model. Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Ontario’s New East Harbour Transit Hub Project was initiated as part of the ‘New Subway Transit Plan for the GTA’, a segment of the government’s smart, forward-thinking plan to build new, sustainable transit. This project will provide opportunities to build vibrant, higher density, mixed-use communities that are connected to transit stations. The New East Harbour Transit Hub will support local transit needs in a new community, as well as, regional connectivity, including incorporating the GO Train (Lakeshore East and the Markham/Stouffville line), SmartTrack services, future TTC light rail transit (linking the Queens Quay LRT with Broadview Avenue) and the Ontario Line subway.
The New Site will include a new Go Train Station, in addition to the requisite site and track work, with the Station containing pedestrian concourses, a diverse range of commercial space, residential space, retail, food, cultural uses, and outdoor space. The Station Layout consists of three island-type above-grade platforms with canopy/shelters above, which are also intended to serve the Ontario Line (LRT) as part of the future development plan, such that the two island platforms will serve the Go, and the remaining platform will serve the Ontario Line LRT.
