DECIEM – GMP Production Facility Upgrades

TORONTO, ON, CA

DECIEM’s aging 120,000 sq. ft. manufacturing and packaging facility required significant renovation to modernize operations and bring the facility and its associated mechanical systems into compliance with current GMP requirements for cosmetics compounding. New mechanical HVAC systems and controls were provided to serve the facility's new compounding, packaging & filling lines, raw product storage, sanitization and product preparation areas, which were designed in conjunction with the projects increased air changes, on-floor pressurization regimes, humidity and temperature control and air purity requirements. The new HVAC systems were also designed to allow for a phased construction approach so that day-to-day operations would not be impacted during construction. As part of the compounding processes, specific flammable and combustible raw materials are used which required the design of a new firefighting water containment system, wastewater collection and treatment systems, and a hazardous dispensing room designed with mechanical explosion prevention systems in place. A new high pressure clean steam and clean compressed air system was also provided to serve product manufacturing equipment throughout the facility, including kettle jackets, bottle filers and mixers.
