Sanofi - B92 Sterility Testing Workstation Isolator
NORTH YORK, ON, CA
A new, hard-wall Sterility Testing Isolator complete with one rapid decontamination airlock for aseptic testing/filling will be installed within an existing containment level (CL2) Microbiology laboratory. The new isolator will allow for improved vaporized hydrogen peroxide (VHP) decontamination cycle times, providing increased flexibility for laboratory users.
A mechanical and electrical review of the existing ventilation system and its power distribution was conducted to study the feasibility of utilizing the existing laboratory’s VHP exhaust system to serve the new isolator during its decontamination cycle in lieu of installing a catalytic converter on the isolator’s exhaust to allow for full re-circulation of airflow back into the laboratory.
To facility the installation of the new isolator, modifications to the existing laboratory ventilation system was completed, including validation of space air changes and pressurization throughout the laboratory which was to remain operation during construction. A review of the existing high pressure compressed air system was also performed to evaluate the suitability of the existing system to serve the new isolator. As part of this review, purity, flow and pressure requirements were analyzed for both the existing system and the new isolator. A new dedicated compressed air service was provided complete with local pressure control within the laboratory.
